ETN Global Response to REPowerEU plan & Winter Preparedness Package

ETN Global welcomes and supports EC’s plans for the energy sector which are aimed at meeting the urgent short-term power and heat needs (REPowerEU Plan & Winter Preparedness Package) while maintaining long-term net-zero goals to make European energy systems and industry more resilient and efficient.

In our statement, we underline the significant role that our industry and gas turbines can play in supporting EC’s strategic objectives by providing a set of measures that can contribute to  the increase in energy savings.

Please read the full statement to the EC on behalf of ETN’s members here.

ETN Board election 2022 results are out!

Pedro Lopez, Chief Operating Officer, Asset Operations within Uniper has been re-elected as President of ETN Global at the Annual General Meeting on 29 March 2022 by the newly elected ETN Board of Directors.

ETN letter to EC: input to EU Taxonomy Complementary Delegated Act

ETN Global welcomes the recent proposal from EC on decarbonisation of gas markets, promotion of hydrogen and reduction of methane emissions in the EU.

We also underline the importance of the EU taxonomy for the success of the energy transition. We believe it is crucial that plants, which comply with a gradual reduction of emissions over time (sunset clause) will be classified as EU Taxonomy-aligned in the forthcoming Complementary Delegated Act.

About IGTC

The International Gas Turbine Conference (IGTC) is a well-established and renowned biennial conference, organised by ETN, representing the whole gas turbine community. The objective is to raise the awareness of gas turbine (GT) and turbomachinery technology development needs – from operators’ perspectives – and to explore and exchange ideas with GT experts from the whole value chain attending from all continents. The IGTC also provides the opportunity to meet and discuss with policymakers the role of gas turbines in future energy scenarios. The conference highlights the energy market outlook in Europe and in key markets globally, as well as presents and disseminates current R&D activities and latest achievements for flexible, efficient, reliable and environmentally sound gas turbine technology. More information about the previous conferences is available here

Virtual conference: 11-15 October 2021

The conference included 5 keynote sessions, 9 technical sessions (with 27 technical papers), a virtual exhibition and a networking lounge.

Presentations and technical papers

Presentations and technical papers are available only for the IGTC attendees. A link to access the presentations was sent to all participants.

Recordings

Recordings (replays) of the sessions are available only for the conference attendees. Please use your personal link to access the conference platform. Replays are available until 15 November 2021. Any downloads will not be available.

Virtual expo

IGTC participants can access the virtual exhibition until 15 November 2021. If you didn’t have time to visit our sponsors’ booths during the conference, you can still check out the expo and download the materials.

ETN’s new R&D Recommendation Report published

The purpose of ETN’s R&D Recommendation Report is to summarise recommendations for R&D topics based on the user community’s needs and requirements, as well as energy policy targets.

The report is intended to be a living document revised on a biennial basis. In accordance with this, the growing importance of Systems Integration and Energy Storage is now addressed in a dedicated chapter that reviews overall performance improvements that can be obtained by the integration of gas turbine technology in other systems.

The report lists topics in technical areas relevant to gas turbine systems being used in Oil & Gas, Power Generation and Industry; the business segments in which ETN members are active. It considers topics related to the integration of turbomachinery into new energy systems, the development of new system integration solutions, the improvement of the state-of-the-art of component technologies, adaption to future emission regulations and other regulatory frameworks.

Additive Manufacturing L-PBF Machine Evaluation Initiative

ETN’s unique L-PBF Machine Evaluation Initiative was developed among members of ETN’s Additive Manufacturing Working Group. The project will review capabilities of Laser-Powder Bed Fusion (aka L-PBF, Selective Laser Melting) equipment currently available on the market.

The involved manufacturers will be manufacturing parts with Nickel Alloy 718 powder, according to specifications defined in collaboration with members of the ETN Additive Manufacturing Working Group. The parts to be produced include features of specific interest to the energy sector, such as thin walls and cooling channels. Performance, quality and productivity are key elements that will be evaluated.

The outcome of the project will consist of a detailed report, evaluating and comparing technical and commercial characteristics of selected AM machines available on the market and sample parts they produced. The full report will be available only for the partners. Find out more about this initiative here.

If your organisation would be interested to hear more about this project, please contact Valentin Moens: vm(at)etn.global
