In March 2025 ETN Global has responded to the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Environment (DG ENV) Call for Evidence regarding two studies related to the revised Industrial Emissions Directive (IED 2.0) and transformation plans.
The aim of the study was to assess the investment gap for transforming industrial installations to align with carbon neutrality, zero pollution, and circular economy goals, as well as to support the development of transformation plans under Article 27d of IED 2.0.
We shared three papers directed by our Hydrogen and Alternative Fuels Working Group that provide key insights:
- Addressing the combustion challenges of hydrogen addition to natural gas – analysing NOx emissions as a challenge in hydrogen combustion (restricted access for members only).
- Hydrogen gas turbines, 2024 edition – highlighting technologies that mitigate high nitrous oxides (NOx) emissions while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Proposed NOx emissions reporting for hydrogen-containing fuels – discussing current and proposed normalization methods for NOx emissions reporting.
We also expressed our willingness to participate in targeted interviews and workshops to further contribute to the Commission’s work. We remain committed to supporting policies and technologies that facilitate the clean energy transition.
