ETN President Pedro Lopez and Managing Director Christer Björkqvist sent a letter to the main contact persons of each ETN member organisation reflecting on 2023 achievements and announcing the plans for 2024.
This year, thanks to our dedicated members, saw record-breaking activities, a new Life-Time Assessment Working Group, and three EC-funded projects. Our global network expanded, welcoming diverse expertise, including our first insurance company member.
We unveiled an official name change, transforming from European Turbine Network into Energy & Turbomachinery Network; retaining the abbreviated name – ETN Global. This strategic rebranding aligns with our expanding international presence and the global commitment to net-zero goals. It signifies a move beyond European borders, fostering closer collaboration within the gas turbine user community for the development and implementation of timely carbon-neutral solutions. We also introduced the 2023 R&D Recommendation Report and Roadmap, providing essential guidance to our community. Our focus now is executing these pathways through Working Groups and projects, advocating for a suitable market mechanism for capacity back-up power.
In 2024, we anticipate global expansion through strategic collaborations and continue ongoing projects, aligning with the net-zero transition. Key events in the coming year include the Annual General Meeting and Workshop on 20-21 March in Leiden, the Netherlands, which will see an appointment of a new ETN Board and Project Board, and the October biennial Workshop in Stuttgart, Germany, both offering engaging programmes and networking opportunities.
ETN’s success is due to all our members. We express gratitude for your 2023 support and look forward to collaborative endeavors in 2024.
