On 7 August 2025, Christer Björkqvist, Managing Director and Rene Vijgen, Senior Technical Manager from ETN Global held a productive meeting with Kamil Talbi, Member of the Cabinet of Dan Jørgensen, Commissioner for Energy and Housing, European Commission, to discuss our January 2025 White paper “The Critical role of dispatchable power generation for a sustainable and secure energy transition” and offer opportunities for further collaboration.
The following calls to action were highlighted:
- Double flexible resources by 2030 and increase five-fold by 2050 through supportive policies.
- Recognise and incentivise dispatchable generation (hydrogen-ready turbines, storage integration) for grid reliability.
- Accelerate deployment of hydrogen and carbon-neutral fuels with clear policies, infrastructure, and investments.
- Incentivise life extension of existing fleets to mitigate adequacy risks.
Björkqvist also proposed deeper engagement with ACER, ENTSO-E/ENTSOG and TSOs to integrate cyclic deterioration and flexibility costs into adequacy modelling and asked K. Talbi for introductions to the appropriate EC and ACER contacts.
ETN Global will be following up on these developments.
