A new webinar on FLEXnCONFU lessons learned is out!

FLEXnCONFU H2020 Consortium is pleased to invite you to its new webinar, which will take place on Wednesday, 2 October from 15.00 to 16.00 (CET).

During the upcoming virtual event, Marikatia Zarogianni, Environmental Engineer at the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), will present the scope and objectives of tailored questionnaires on the social life cycle assessment (s-LCA) of the FLEXnCONFU proposed solutions. These surveys have been recently shared by our Consortium project partners with local community stakeholders, technology providers, and distribution system operators, with the aim of completing an integrated sustainability assessment.

While hydrogen and ammonia provide a potential for energy transition, it is vital to understand the social consequences of alternative fuels’ energy adoption to facilitate implementation and dissemination of P2X2P technology, the main solution proposed by FLEXnCONFU. The main objective of the s-LCA study is therefore to identify and evaluate the social impacts of the energy production using hydrogen/ammonia taking into consideration both positive and negative impacts.

Within this framework, a methodology to assess the social impacts of alternative pathways of energy production is performed thought the usage of specific questionnaires as an assessment tool.  The implementation of this approach includes the selection of targeted stakeholders (technology providers, distribution system operators (DSOs) and local community), and specific social topics proposed for each stakeholder category. The outcomes of the quantitative data will reveal the stakeholders’ perception on environmental, on regulatory and economic issues.

The public awareness of these greener solutions will contribute to greater social acceptability, which will be investigated in order to reach intrinsic safety and reliability. This s-LCA may assist with forthcoming choices for industry, government, and consumers. This endeavour will create socially acceptable methods and strategies for effectively implementing alternative fuels into the energy economy.

About FLEXnCONFU project

The main goal of the FLEXnCONFU project is to develop and demonstrate in a combined cycle (CC) power plant an innovative, economically viable and replicable power-to-X-to-power (P2X2P) solution. More information on FLEXnCONFU is available on the project website.

The FLEXnCONFU project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 884157
