On 4 June 2025 ETN Global was proud to be represented at the VGBE Gas Turbines 2025 conference in Wesel, Germany, where Giuseppe Tilocca, Technical Lead, delivered a well-received presentation on “The Critical Role of Turbomachinery for a Successful Energy Transition”.
In his talk, Tilocca highlighted how turbomachinery, and in particular gas turbines, will support the transition to a low-carbon energy system. He addressed the increasing need for flexible, dispatchable power as renewable energy sources continue to grow, and outlined the challenges and opportunities identified by ETN Global members from across the gas turbine value chain.
Key discussion points included:
- the importance of maintaining existing thermal capacity
- the role of policy in enabling investment, and
- the technological pathways available for decarbonising thermal generation
The presentation also compared carbon capture and storage solution with renewable fuels, examined timelines for implementation, and highlighted progress in hydrogen turbine technologies aiming for 100% dry low NOx (DLN) H₂ operation.
The presentation reflected ETN Global’s broader work through our Technology Development Platform, which brings stakeholders together to advance innovation and ensure the reliability and sustainability of future energy systems.
