Webinar on “The prospects of flexible natural gas-fired CCGT with CCS within a green taxonomy”

The ETN CCS Taskforce is pleased to announce a virtual event on “The prospects of flexible natural gas-fired CCGT with CCS within a green taxonomy”. The webinar will take place on 24 November from 11.00 to 12.00 (CET).

With the increased integration of renewables (e.g., wind, solar PV), the annual capacity factor of CCGT power plants has been declining as they operate more flexibly, which has the potential to increase CO2 emissions significantly. During the webinar, Dr. Mai Bui (Senior Research Associate, Imperial College London) will present her study, which aims to determine the eligibility of CCGT with CCS within a green taxonomy emissions threshold of below 100 kg CO2 eq/MWh for electricity generation. To meet this limit, key factors that need to managed includes methane leakage, supply chain emissions, CO2 capture rate, and the impact of start-up and shut down on the CO2 capture performance.
