ETN Young Engineers Committee (YEC) – Webinar on “Career Paths in the Turbomachinery Field”

ETN Young Engineers Committee (YEC) is pleased to invite you to its new webinar on “Career Paths in the Turbomachinery Field“.

The virtual event will take place on Thursday, 7 December from 15.00 to 16.00 (CET). During the webinar, presentations will be provided by the following speakers:

During the online webinar, two presentations on this topic will be given by:
  • Franco Rosatelli (Former CTO, Ansaldo Energia). Franco worked for 35 years with Ansaldo group where he developed a broad experience on power generation technologies both for nuclear and fossil power plants, directing for many years the R&D Engineering department in Ansaldo Energia and acting as Chief Technical Officer from 2009 to 2015.  From 2015 to 2019 he joined REP Holding (Gazprom Group) in Saint Petersburg, acting as Vice-President for Technology Development. Franco has attained the status of an ETN Emeritus member since 2019.
  • Karen Thole (Distinguish Professor, Penn State Mechanical Engineering). Dr. Thole’s expertise is heat transfer and cooling of gas turbine airfoils. She is currently directing the Steady Thermal Aero Research (START) Lab, which focuses on turbine heat transfer, advanced manufacturing, and instrumentation development.
  • Sigrid Gijbels (Thermal Fleet Manager, Engie). Sigrid Gijbels has worked in the power industry for more than 25 years. Since 2022 she is working at the Engie BU ‘Flexible Generation Europe’, where she holds the position of Fleet Manager for the Thermal Power Plants in Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as for the First Hydro Pump Storage plants in the UK (Wales). Sigrid has been appointed as a member of the ETN Board.
  • David Webb (Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer, DNV). David is an active contributor to the ETN Young Engineers Committee, with a strong interest in complex technologies. As a result of his international experience of nine years in industry, from the United Kingdom to Japan, David will provide us with some valuable insights on the career in the field of turbomachinery.

The event will be moderated by Antonio Escamilla Perejón, Postdoctoral Researcher at University of Seville.
