ETN Global CCUS Webinar Series – Episode 6 on “Permitting Post-Combustion Carbon Capture for Power Plants: Lessons from the UK”

Abstract of the webinar

ETN Global is inviting you to the sixth episode of its CCUS webinar series, which will take place on Tuesday, 30 June 2026 from 15:00 to 16:00 (CET).

A number of power plants equipped with post-combustion amine-based carbon capture are currently applying for planning consent and environmental permits in the UK. This novel technology has presented a number of new challenges relating to the derivation of environmental assessment levels, modelling the behaviour of amines and degradation products in the atmosphere, assessing risks associated with venting of CO2, the clustering of multiple projects around CO2 transport infrastructure and dealing with the proprietary nature of capture solvents.

Addressing these issues has required co-operation between environmental regulators, government, technology vendors and plant operators.

During this webinar, Steve Griffiths (Technical Head, Environmental Sciences and Climate Change at Uniper) will present the approaches developed to these emerging challenges.
