Annual General Meeting and Workshop 2026

Energy & Turbomachinery Network’s (ETN) 22nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Workshop will take place on 23-25 March 2026 at Clarion Hotel Malmö Live, in Malmö, Sweden, co-hosted by our member Uniper.
The AGM and Workshop is a dynamic 2.5-day event that unites representatives from across our entire community. Participants include users, manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, research institutes, and universities. The event offers invaluable opportunities to explore the latest technological developments, understand evolving user needs, connect with leading experts, foster partnerships, and uncover new business opportunities.
The event will feature:
- amazing site visits organised by our co-host Uniper to Öresundsverket – a modern power plant with world’s first gas trubines running on HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil)
- updates on ETN Global’s annual activities 2025 and plans for 2026
- announcement of the newly elected ETN Global Board 2026-2028
- meaningful discussions as well as interactive sessions
Join us to engage, collaborate, and drive innovation in the energy & turbomachinery sector.
Agenda
Coming soon…
Preliminary agenda – 23 March 2026
- 09:30-11:00: ETN Global High-Level User discussion
- 15:00-17:30: Visit to Uniper’s Öresundsverketpower plant with gas turbines running on HVO
On 23 March 2025, ETN Global’s Annual General Meeting & Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to visit Öresundsverket – a modern natural gas fired power plant operated by Uniper and located in Malmö. What makes it unique is that it was mothballed for over eight years before taken back into operation in March 2025.
We will also have the opportunity to have a peek at the world’s first gas turbines converted to run on the renewable fuel, HVO, back in early 2023.
Öresundsverket
Öresundsverket is a natural gas fired combined cycle power plant with a maximal capacity of 448 megawatt. The plant was brought onto the market in 2009 and delivered both electricity and district heat until it was decommissioned in late 2016. It was then mothballed until June 2023 when the the Swedish TSO and Electricity Preparedness Authority decided that power plant should be included in Sweden’s electricity preparedness system to be able to deliver island operation.
What were the hurdles of bringing back a power plant with an extensive maintenance debt and how were they overcome?

Open cycle gas turbines in Malmö
The two 63 megawatt open cycle gas turbines in Malmö were the first in the world to be converted to run on HVO – Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil. The first tests were conducted as early as 2021, and two years later the conversion was finalized. Since then, further experience has been gained in using this renewable, low-carbon fuel, and three more open cycle gas turbine units in Uniper’s Swedish fleet have been converted to use HVO.
What lessons has Uniper learnt from converting and running, to date, five open cycle gas turbines with HVO?
