The new ROBINSON H2020 Training Module is now open for registrations!

On behalf of the ROBINSON H2020 Consortium, ETN is pleased to invite you to the new training module entitled “Designing ROBINSON Islands by Integrating Techno-Economic and Life Cycle Assessment”.

The virtual event will take place on Wednesday, 30 October from 15:00 to 16:00 (CET).

This tutorial presents a tool to optimally design such multi-energy systems on geographical islands. As such, a mixed integer linear program is formulated and solved to minimize costs and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while meeting the energy demands of given end-users. The central contribution of the tool is to evaluate costs and GHG emissions during the entire life cycle of multi-energy systems on geographical islands. This allows to evaluate trade-offs regarding a cost or environmentally optimal design now and in the future. Within this tutorial, the main steps of the (open-source) optimization tool are presented, so that it can be useful for future practitioners.

The training module will be delivered by Tom Mike Terlouw, Researcher at PSI Paul Scherrer Institut.

Registrations to this event are free, but mandatory. To register, please follow the link at the top right of this page.

About ROBINSON project

ROBINSON’s main mission is to develop an integrated energy system to help decarbonise islands with industrial activities. The system, which will be demonstrated on the island of Eigerøy, Norway, couples locally available energy sources, electrical and thermal networks and innovative storage technologies, using hydrogen as energy carrier. In order to achieve the target, innovative technologies will be developed, integrated on the island and managed by a novel Energy Management System (EMS) that will include non-electrical resources such as biomass gasification, wastewater valorisation and industrial symbiosis. More information on ROBINSON is available on the project website.

The ROBINSON project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 957752
